Trip to Honolulu
Greetings to all,
My fiancee and I will be in Honolulu on September 14th through the 21st. We've never been to Hawaii before so we're not real sure where to stay at as far as hotel accomodations are concerned. I checked the hawaii.com website and there were a lot of 3 star and up hotels. Any of you guys can a recommend a hotel/condo's?
Besides touring the Pearl Harbor area, hanging out at the beach -- what other activities or sites out there which are a must see or experience? What about good cheap eats?
Any suggestions is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Since you are coming to Oahu (unlike other recent visitors who went to the neighbor islands) there is good chance we'll be able to meet up if you like. My wife works for Aston Hotels and I'll ask her for a few hotel recommendations for you. Are you looking to be right on the beach or does it not really matter? What about price range?
As for things to do and see, I think there are a lot of things besides Pearl Harbor, hopefully you like outdoors things (great snorkeling as Hanauma Bay), there is hiking etc. You can also plan "day trips" to the neighbor islands to see Volcanoes Nat'l park on the Big Island, Haleakala (Maui), Waimea Canyon (kauai). Definately give us a shout when you arrive or just before you leave!

Thanks Colin. It would be great to stay at a hotel with a view of the ocean (lanai's). However, if its a $200 a night, i will pass.
Ocean Resort Waikiki quoted me a weekly special of $378 for 7 night stay. Of course, it has city view. Supposedly, it has a kitchenette, located a block away from Waikiki beach, 10 miles away from the Honolulu Intl AP, and pretty close to good dining. Price intrigues me but I can fork more than $54/night on hotel accomodations if amenities are good and a just a better hotel.
Again thanks for the suggestions. "Day Trips" to the neighboring islands sounds pretty good.
By the way, are you guys having any meets? Maybe I can rent an s2000 for a day and meet up with you guys. Is it $150 per day to rent one out there?
