Default Trade in s2k for 350z?

Today, well actually yesterday, someone traded in a black 00-01 s2000. He's taking delivery of his new 350z tomorrow.

To me that car is not even on the same level.

The Acura RSX-s is on the same level as a 350z in my opinion. People make mistakes in their life and for this guy to trade in his S2000, well that was a mistake in my book but thats ok, whatever makes him happy.

There are people that need to be in the "next big thing" and the 350Z definitely qualifies in this regard. At least it can draw in decades of history to legitimize it's claim to greatness. IMO anyone selling a 1 or 2 year old S2000 in not a True Believer, but a fad chaser.

To each his own I guess. Come this time next year and there are hundreds of 350Zs on the road and still only a handfull of S2000s he may regret his decision.

I think the Z is a great car as I used to own a 90 300ZX but I wouldn't trade my S2000 for one today. Just my .02

From reading these threads, it is obvious that a lot of people who bought S2000s were expecting the kind of bottom end grunt that comes out of Mustangs and Camaros that turn in similar 1/4 mile times. They just didn't understand the different approach to performance cause, lets face it, it never really existed on this scale in a production car until the S came along. They tried it, they didn't like it. That's cool. I couldn't be happier with how the thing goes and i had a number of Mustangs and Camaros. I'm glad there is a car for them now too.

Nothing wrong with trying something different. He/she most likely didn't buy the S2k because it's a convertible, and now that there's another Japanese sports car that can perform, and arguably, looks good.....

I know there is also the WRX, but looks are subjective, and some people want heritage, or whatever. Maybe shifting became a hassle and they wanted an automatic? Maybe they wanted more torque? There are many possible reasons.

I haven't test driven the new Z, but the only thing I would trade my S2k for would be a new S2k with a 2.2 liter engine
oh, that would make it the S2200...

I agree with Stephen, there's nothing wrong with trading the car. I've been tempted many times and probably will continue to be tempted. Newer cars have more appeal than ones that have been out for a few years. It all comes down to what you're looking for in a car, and how long can you live with your current one.

I went to check out the new G35 coupe. I was very impressed. My opion is that it looks a lot better than the 350Z. But both are very good looking. The G35 sedan on the other hand, just doesnt do it for me. Go figure...
