cuz it's faster. look at the porsche literature for 06 and 07. they list the tiptronic being faster in the 1.4 mile than the manual trans cars.

isnt tiptronic same as automatica and nothing like smg?
i mean i forgot what car but my friends, it shifts for you haha

its all the same thing. its like semi auto. it shifts when you tell it to or you can let the car do it all. and like kent said, its faster than a human can possibly shift, and the same reason its on F-1

It's nothing like the sequential shifters like the Ferrari F1 or BMW SMG transmissions. The tiptronic does shift fast but still doesn't have the feel like a sequential. It's more like AMG's type. Even though its just a few tenths of a second faster, I'd never go for the tiptronics (it just robs the fun out of the Porsche). Now the GT2 is the sex!

yeah i know m3 smg is a tad bit faster and with that launch control you can get near perfect launches everytime

i think this technology should be apploed with upcoming honda sports cars standard!! haha i wish but kinda dont .. its that much better than my babyyyy

yea you can use both hands on the steering wheel and right foot for accel. and left for brake
