Time for another dyno session
Time for a dyno tune! Chris (JsAP1) sold me his VAFC-II for a good price so I'll be tuning it at Hyper Sports today at 2pm, I'll post the sheet when I'm done. I don't expect a lot of gains, but it's something else to play with while I wait to go Forced Induction... where the real power is.

From our last dyno day:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had fun seeing what my car is really sending to the pavement (198.2HP and 133.6TQ). I just
wish I had done this when the car was stock so I knew what my gains were. As far as mods, that
could have an effect on horsepower, I have:
1. HKS Racing Suction Intake
2. Tsudo mufflers welded to the stock exhaust pipes (silencers removed)
3. Denso IK24 spark plugs, gapped .40
I also have 19" Acari Racing wheels, they are forged aluminum and weigh the same as stock 16",
but with the rotational mass pushed outward they probably cost me a point or two in the
horsepower figures. My car is a year 2000 with 14,000 miles on it. I hope I make it next week to
see how the rest of you do.
Nate.

Hyper Sports tuned the VAFC-II today with some decent results, especially considering I didn't really expect it to gain much.
Initail run - NO Tuning
Peak HP: 190.2
Peak TQ: 130.5
Final run - Post Tuning
Peak HP: 200.5
Peak TQ: 132.8
My initial run was a bit lower than our last dyno day. Changes to the car include some Eibach lowering springs, my un-tuned VAFC running in monitor mode, and the milage now reads 18888. Also, the car was hot from traffic today and that garage at Hyper Sports was hella hot, so the enviroment was not on my side and I'm not worried about the difference. I am very pleased that I gained 10HP and a couple pounds of tourque over the initail run of the day. What is also important is the change in the power curve which is much more smooth and no longer shows a sudden jump at the VTEC engagement as it did before. I'll scan the chart and post it up in a day or two.
I say not bad considering:
$150 HKS Intake
$600 Tsudo Mufflers
$40 Deso Iridium plugs
$200 Apexi VAFC-II
$190 Tuning
I've seen others on the boards who spent much more and don't do any better. If anybody else is thinking about getting a VAFC or VAFC-II, Hyper Sports is the place to tune it. Their tuner worked at Apexi until about a year ago so he has a clue about what he is doing. I can do the install for anybody with an s2000 since I now have the wire chart, that could save you $150-200 in install fees at a shop. I didn't use a frog harness and hardwired it into the ECU harness like an installer probably would, but don't worry it is reversable.
