I would like to get some help on places to see. My wife and I are flying in to Honolulu, Hawaii on Jan 4th and then leaving on a 7 day cruise Jan 5th. We have stops in Hilo (monday), Fanning Island (Republic of Kiribati)(wed), Kahului (fri), Nawiliwili (sat) and then back to Honolulu on Sunday. The cruise line is NCL and they offer a lot of things to see and do, but which ones. So, I am asking for input on places that we should try and see.
Thanks for any help

Bruce if you plan on spending an entire day and only one day in Honolulu, take one of the all day tours. It's the only way you will get your money's worth. You can get information about the tour at any hotel conceirge.

Coop, honestly a day is not that much time. If you plan on renting a car you can drive the entire island yourself. But then you have to drive the entire island yourself. If you take a one day tour. They usually consist of the following. Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, North Shore, Dole Plantation, snorkeling, bunch of scenic/picturesque sights, along the way, etc. They get you back around 5pm which would give you just enough time to take a shower and then hop on another tour bus to get to a Luau show for dinner. Which would get you home around 10pm or so, which if you are staying in Waikiki, can allow you to walk around the strip or catch a cab and head for a club. This is all on Honolulu by the way. If you are looking for the other islands, I've never been to any of them except for the Big Island (Hilo). Which you could go see the black sand beach, and take the helicopter tour to see the volcano.

I think that what we are going to do is, Saturday after arriving and getting to the Hotel, maybe just walk around or rent a car. Sunday before leaving on the cruise, we'll take a tour, like turbo_pwr recommended. On the cruise, everything is still up in the air. Sunday after getting back, rent a car and just do what ever, before we leave that night.
