Default S2k Track days?

I was wondering if the S2k clubs have any reserved track days or driving schools. I'd like to attend!

You can go to the SuperLap event on the 24th (Sunday) and get a lot of track time. I will have my 'Honda' there.

Uhm, I checked out the web site, and I couldn't figure out what Super Laps is. Is this like an open track day? I don't want to go wheel to wheel. I'm just interested in trying to learn how to drive better and find a nice safe place to drive my new baby.

Wheel to wheel comes later when I get my track beater Miata.

SuperLap is basically a track day. You go out and take some practice laps. Then you go out during the 'Time Battle' and try to get the fastest time possible in 3 out of 5 laps (they keep changing it though). Those times are compared to other drivers in your class.

It can be competitive but most people go out there to get some track time. You can have some experienced people come and ride along with you or you can ride along with them too. It is not technically 'wheel to wheel'. Sure you are out on the course with other cars but there are designated passing zones so it is safe and non-competitive/intimidating. I've seen several S2ks out there last year.

Is this an SCCA sponsored event? I've heard some bad stuff happening at other events.

How do you sign up?

It is sponsored by Drift Session.

Bad stuff? It really depends on how far you want to push it. I tend to be rather conservative and don't get into any mishaps. You can do the same.

Just show up at the track around 8am. Gates open at 730 and the drivers meeting is around 830. The SL usually ends around 2pm.

It costs $75 to run and I think $10 for the timer. I would definitely get the timer unless you want to have someone do hand timing for you. If you want to compete and have your time recorded, you have to rent a timer.

I highly recommend you guys to come out thought. Track days are one of those things that you don't realize is educational/fun/enlightening until you do it.
