A friend of mine had his S2000 stolen last week. The thieves couldn't start the car (I guess because of the imobilizer) so they stripped the car on the street in front of his building. They sliced the top and took the seats. He has a Sebring Silver 02.
Honda is quoting him $14000 to replace the ignition and seats and to fix his top. Seems kind of high to me.
Anyway, please be careful with your S2000s.

Actually it sounds about right to me. We know that if you strip the interior of a leather Integera, the car is totalled! Still, it's pretty sad for this to happen! I think we've been pretty fortunate for the past 3 years! Hopefully this doesn't mark the start of a trend.

808S2K-
Seats Replaced = approx $9,000
Top Replaced = approx $2,000
Ignition, etc. = ???
I'm sure your friend is feeling really bad about now. It always makes me angry to hear these stories. After the shock is over, let your friend know about the McGard Seat Locks. Here's a link to the thread. There are a few sets left. -Pete

Crap. I knew I would hear about someone else getting hit here in Hawaii. My S2k also got it's top slashed, but I was fortunate as the thieves got scared away and didn't get anything except my CD's.
I just got my McGard seat locks from Pete (Kodokan_4) in the mail last week and recommend them to anyone who wants a little peace of mind. Thieves may still cause a lot of damage to your car, but you should still be able to drive your car away with the seats intact. $55 is definitely worth it.

Thanks for the info guys. I will let him know what you have noted regarding the price of things. I myself am going to pick up those McGard seat locks, sounds like a good investment.

Such a horrible thing to hear about. I do hope that this crime spree that is going on in Hawaii stops soon. May I recommend a car cover for those who park on the street for long periods of time. Not so sure that these jerks would go throgh the trouble of removing a car cover to see what is underneath. Just a thought... Good luck to your friend in getting his car fixed.

Tell him to pick-up used seats from the board. Someone is always selling a set for around $1000. Even with shipping from the mainland that will be a whole hell of a lot cheaper then the Honda dealer.
