I've been checking out some of the S2000 coming down to the auto-x lately. Nice cars. I was wondering how the reliability of them as daily drivers has been? What are the known weaknesses of the car? I remember reading about one national level competitor having to rebuild the engine due to a failure. Also Colin if you are reading this maybe you have some insight as to when or if the RSX type r is coming stateside. Looking at the future possibly selling my Corrado. Not sure what I will do yet just exploring options.
Thanks, Rob

ENGINE IS RELIALBLE IT'S A HONDA. Only major bad thing I can think of is insurence price, leather start to wear, weak clutch, and people will want to steal it more than a Corrado.

S2000s seem to be pretty mechanically sound, some of the things that spire1 mentioned hold true for some of the owners, but not everyone. For me, I don't see any problems with abnormal leather wear, and since we're not drag racers, the clutch does not appear to be a big deal to us. Insurance is not even that bad for us, but fortunately we don't have any tickets and only one accident.
As for the Type-R RSX, no word from Acura. IMO since they have been talking about the Factory Performance (FP) package, I'm wondering if they are not planing to bring one over at all? Keep in mind, that when we last sold Type-R Integras, there as a huge dealer markup on them, and they did not come down! In Hawaii we only sold 3 for '97, 4 for '98, 0 for '99 (not offered), 6 for '00 and 4 for '01. Also remember that the Japan Type-R only makes 220 hp (Japan standard) and most of this gain is due to the higher compression because their top gas is 93 octane.

the rsx is a nice car. its nowhere near the performance and handling of an S2000 but they are in different categories and are hard to be compared to in the first place. the only thing i can brag about is that i can carry 4 passengers, a whole lot more cargo space then the S, and oh yeah...i got 5 cupholders! the S2000 is a nice car though. i wouldn't mind getting one but it seems to impractical for me at the moment. i carry a lot of things in the rsx. and plus you cannot beat a 9000 rpm redline !

The RSX is a great car, with lots of add-on options. The car looks nice and drives well IMO.
In the hands of an experienced driver, the RSX and S2000 can be close in autoxing performance. I met a driver of a RSX (not Type-S) who's name is Dan that runs in a different stock class much like I do and he runs a few seconds behind my times. We're both novices of course. That's not bad at all I think considering the power and equipment difference.
From the factory, the "fun factor" is much higher with the S2000 than the RSX Type-S... but this is only my own opinion. Just to name a few things, I like the heavier clutch of the S and the car feels "beefier" so it satisfies my manly needs despite driving my RED car.

Why in bleedin' heck would you need to have 8 cup holders?!
From now on, I'm calling your car the rolling cup holder.
