Planning a Trip to Hawaii
Hey guys,
I'm a proud S2000 in cold BFE of Northern Ohio, which right now is just about the complete opposite of your weather right now lol.
Anyways, my family is planning our first family trip to Hawaii this summer (late June / early July), and I figured that what better way to plan a vacation there is to ask the locals about what's good, bad, worth seeing, and worth passing up.
If you guys have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate them. Thanks guys.
Chad

Hello Chad.
I'm sure others will have better responses than I do, but I'll start:
I hear many good things about Polynesian Cultural Center on the North Shore.
I also hear good things about Germaine's Luau.
If you're into activities, snorkeling Hanauma Bay is popular. Maybe hiking Diamond Head trail...
I don't know if you have a Cheesecake Factory in Ohio, but they just opened up in Waikiki and it's pretty good food (and big portions) with awesome desserts. Try to go for lunch though, as the wait during dinner time can run over an hour (lunch is more like 15 minutes). For a more "Hawaiian" feel, try Dukes. It's practically next door and is also good.

Oh no, I did not mean it to be one of those "do a search" messages. I was just too lazy to type my portion again. If you want to hook up remember to post a message here again when you're closer to your trip!

I too am planning a trip to Hawaii. My best friend works for a Military Contractor and is staying at the Waikiki Hilton for 3 months. He's providing me a flight using his frequent flyer miles, so I only have to pay for my girlfriend's flight, and no hotel. There's no way I could pass up that opportunity!!
I appreciate the links to the informational sites. They will be of much use once I get the time to look at all of it. I don't have a travel date yet, but it will be between the end of March and the beginning of May. Any suggestions on when to travel to coincide with the best weather, local activities, etc?
On that same note, what kind of weather should I expect? It looks to be about the same as it is here in FL, but I'm sure you guys don't get the cold snaps like we do from time to time.
One more thing..what is the availability of rental cars? There's nothing I'd like more than to take a scenic drive through the mountains of Hawaii. If you guys meet up on a regular basis, maybe we could join you in the rent-a-wreck to show us some scenic spots.
Thanks in advance for your help.
