Default New Tires For My Stock 16s....Or Upgrade to AP2?

Cant put it off that much longer, esp with all this rain. My stock 16s will NEED to be replaced soon with new tires...all four. But im debating that since im shelling out the cash, should i consider a set of AP2 rims? For those that did the "upgrade", Is the performance and feel worth it? I always felt that a nice set of light weight aftermarket rims will be best eventually, but i noticed ap2 wheels price wise could be a decent compromise if i stumble on a set. All three versions of AP2 look pretty nice, but my 16s still look good also...just that theyre 16s.

Do they still make the oem tires for the 16s? If not, whats a good brand and size have you guys used? Tnx

yes. going from ap1's to ap2v1's on my03 made a huge difference. definitely more planted with the 215/245 set up.
this was pre-vortech and post-vortech as well

Hmmmmmm, now your post has me leaning towards finding a set of AP2 wheels if the difference is that "huge". I like the idea of being more "planted", esp in this tail happy car. I noticed though that ap2 wheels are dime a dozen on the mainland but not so much here. Good deals dont seem so good when you gotta add $3-400 in shipping a set to hawaii

just has a sharper feel due to the lower sidewall and grip dues to more width all around.

I actually like the feel of 16's much more comfortable each pothole doesn't feel like a crater on the moon, tires are cheaper and the mounting and balancing is cheaper.

I have a set of ap1's for DD use and AP2v2 for track days, running on twisty roads, going on cruises ect.
