What kind of trouble am I looking at if I go to a more flexible safety inspection that passes me, and then some cop gives me crap for my tires sticking out a little bit? Is there any way to prove I had not modified the car since the safety inspection?
From what I've been told and based on the experience garnered from the Military I work with, the tires have to be flush to the fender at the most. Lot of the guy's I work with have 4x4's with modified suspensions. I've consulted with them before their RECON appt and all them have passed so far. If their tires stuck out, they just bought and installed the fender flares...some painted them to match their truck's/jeep's body. Others just did not care.

Really, I doubt a cop is gonna stop you for your tires sticking out 1/2". I wouldn't worry about that. Unless your suspension isn't modified, I wouldn't worry about RECON either...Geesh, and I thought I was being anal about this...

But like Flite...YMMV.

30 days is plenty of time to swap on some stockers if it does not pass.
