Iolani Palace tree fell on my in-laws
Did you see the coconut tree at Iolani Palace that fell on the white Volvo during the wind storm earlier this week? That was my sister-in-law driving her Volvo with my father-in-law in the passenger seat when the tree attacked (well, at least fell on them) them from behind! One of the newspapers incorrectly identified the driver as my father-in-law, it was his daughter driving. Only minor scratches, but my sister-in-law is kinda shook up. My wife and I found out when my brother-in-law picked us up from HON Thursday afternoon (we're in visiting from California). Volvo held up good, but they're still cleaning glass out of the stuff they had in the car.

that's pretty nuts! i'm glad to know your in-laws are okay. I remember reading it in the paper and thinking "since this is hawaii, i wonder how many degrees of separation there is between me and driver."
it would fall under Comprehensive
oh wow! small world i guess! i wonder who pays for that kind of thing? its like an act of god right? so insurance doesnt cover?

In Hawaii it's no-fault, so their insurance is paying out. They're getting a check for full value of the Volvo (~$19k) on Monday. The driver's husband (my brother-in-law) was shopping for another Volvo today. I'm gonna go by Iollani Palace before dinner tonight to see the "crime scene".
