idle problem help
the ap1 that i just picked up has a minor idle problem. it doesnt happen all the time, but once in a while the car jolts and bogs at low rpms. this happens mostly in first.
i was told that it is an ecu and/or wiring problem. anybody have an idea?
im at work now, but will do more research when i get home. thanks.

what year? the early cars has bogging, stumbling issues in traffic in the heat. mark has demonstrated this to me with his ap1.
what are the other conditions when this happens? in traffic, hot, just after startup, etc.?
common culprits of idle problem we've seen amongst hawaii members are:
iac valve
map sensor
dirty injectors
valves out of adjustment.
manifold heat soak (i believe spanky said his idle got better after the thicker intake gasket, IIRC)

it did it yesterday after sitting for about 4 hours. drove it home around 5pm no traffic.
did it again this morning around 9am once again no traffic.
the car has an aftermarket gasket(gotta check which one), an aftermarket tb and an injen cai.
maybe i just need to let it warm up and idle for a bit before driving?

Sounds like Heat Soak to me. Do a search on it and there's many topics about that issue.

This is definitely not heat soak. This is my old car. It's something completely different. The problem is so intermittent, it's hard to diagnose. It'll happen at any time, when you first start it up, or when you're cruising on the freeway. The ecu on this car has been taken out and wired back in, so there may be something faulty there. I looked at the ecu and the connections seemed pretty good to me. I always thought it was the EVAP system since that was disconnected but apparently the guy I sold it to fixed that and it still happens.
Btw, the intake manifold gasket is a Hondata, and it's a King Motorsports bored/tapered throttle body. It's a stock TB that's been machined.

so far it has only happened that one time. the idle is a little rough when i turn the ac on now. when i slow to a stop, the idle drops below 1k and the car shakes, but quickly regains power. i just give it a little more gas and work the clutch so im used to that already.
