powedercoating wont come out flat where paint can be sanded flat for the "perfect" finish.

powdercoating will also weaken the integrity of the wheel

I won't be sanding the finish to make it matte. If I go with a matte finish it's going to be with a paint that's made for it. Quality matte paints have dulling agents in them and are just as smooth as regular gloss paints. That way you can wash and wax them just like any other paint.

From what i've been told, reheating wheels will weaken them. I think it comes down to how the wheel were made, and how the shop powdercoats the wheels. I just wouldnt risk it with expensive wheels.

It's kind of a misconception that powdercoating weakens wheels. They're heated, but not enough to affect your wheels. The powder is just plasic powder, and they're only heated enough to melt the plastic to the wheels. I wouldn't have a problem powdercoating my HREs, I just prefer the depth of color that painting gives over powdercoating. Plus, paint is easier to touch up and buff swirls out of. given the right additives, paint can be just as durable as well.

the huge amounts of braking heat that a wheel is designed to dissipate (in cycles, if that wasn't enough) is much more stressful that the PC curing process. you shouldn't have to worry.
