i was just wondering if ur guys vtec works....
tonight i was driving with a bunch of friends at a strip and trying to go 1 vs 1 against them....
the problem i ran into and my friend even sat in the car with me to verify that vtec kicks in my s2k 1st, 2nd, 3rd, then 4th, 5th, and 6th i don't feel any pull but i hear the vtec hit... i was just wondering if thats just me or does it happen to any others? this is a 05 s2k with 4000 on it like 3 months old.... went threw inspection today at honda and they said everything is ok i work for pflueger so they didn't bs me lol..... can anyone just let me know their input into this section because i don't want my s2k to be sh*t out of luck if u know what i mean.
i lost against a rsx type s with only headers, exhaust, and intake, some other lil things but that was it only reason why i lost was when he hit 3rd, 4th and 5th his vtec pushed right on the side and passed me in the beginning i was way ahead of him....
please if anyone just can put there input ill be very happy

from what i hear headders, intake, and exhaust make like 20-30 hp and if you look at the stock headder you will understand.
as for vtec maybe you just got used to it?

our stock header is very good. just heavy.
I/H/E on an S is good for maybe 10-12 hp.
not feeling VTEC in 5th and 6th? no suprise. the car is a brick for aerodynamics and you are already going pretty fast. (for an S)

I have a few questions/comments. Generally VTEC engages at 6000 rpm. I don't have gear ratios in my head for 2004-05, but looking back at the early cars shows the following max speeds in gears:
1st = 43 mph
2nd = 65 mph
3rd = 90 mph
4th = 115 mph
5th = 138 mph
6th = 146 mph
In the 1/4 mile, Id imagine you'd need no more than 4 gears, and HRPs straightaway is much too short to redline 5th. I've run the road course where you are going through the sweeper (the turn by the start line) in 2nd -3rd. When you reach the end of the straight, you are at the top of 4th maybe 5th, but nowhere near the top of 5th. I remember seeing about 120 before you need to get on the brakes.
The race with the RSX could be true. A modded RSX-S can put out similar power to an S2000. They weigh about the same too. Factor in how easy it is to spin the tires, and keep the engine in the power band, the RSX is easier to get a good launch. So you could get smoked on the bottom end and if you had the top down....... you'd probably be toast on the top end too.
