Hell yeah! Forget what the Beach Boys and David Lee Roth said, California girls got nothin' on Hawaii girls. The best on the planet bar none per capita (of course, I lean towards the asian persuasion)
Heheh.. I would not agree on that. I would have to go to Hawaii and see for myself. Have you been to south cali? Theres a lot of hot girls here. You just need to know where to look ..

medical residency positions in hawaii are very hard to get because of the high number of applicants and low number of openings. last year from the John A. Burns medicals school in hawaii, i heard only one person got in to a place in hawaii, and i think he was previously a MIT grad. my brother graduated last year and he had to move to cali.
Yeah, I've heard the job market is very competitive.

I'm lucky that there are positions available for anesthetists.

Most likely, I'll be staying here in So Cal. Exactly where, I don't know.

I verbally accepted a position here in SoCal, but the offer in HI is really tempting.

There are many positive & negative factors for going to HI, and also for staying here.

I don't think the high cost of living in HI will affect whether I want to move there. The job pays pretty well. The problem for me is finding the right place to live. I was thinking I might be able to get a house with my buddy and his girlfriend, as opposed to an apartment by myself.

What I really need to do is to fly over and take a good look around. The problem is I don't have time to do that before I have to sign contracts for the other job here.

[QUOTE=rstark,Jul 6 2005, 12:48 AM] I always tell people that Hawaii is a nice place to visit, but not to live in.

its funny that some of the people who live there and are saying its not a good place to live. Kinda ironic. That's what most locals in Santa Cruz say.. They claim its a great place to visit but not to live cuz its soo expensive.. I'm sure alot of the income in the Hawaiin Islands come from tourists and visiters. peace out fellas...

the Hawaii s2ki-ers are going to hate me now. shouldn't have opened my big ol mouth.

Everybody in Hawaii should move to Vegas...

the fact of the matter is you are going to have to be willing to make some concessions to live here. most likely you will get paid less than your peers elsewhere in the US. your dollar will also not go as far as it would on the mainland. space is very limited so land and housing is going to cost more for less area. all your groceries will cost more because everything is shipped here. this is the price you pay to live in paradise. all of us here are willing to pay it cause this is a wonderful place to live. we're not trying to discourage anyone from moving here, but we're not gonna sugar coat it either. its not the easiest place to make a living, but if you can do it then its well worth it!
