Default Heat Gun

So I took my windshield tape off and there is a lot of glue residue left on it. I am wondering if anyone has a heat gun that I could use to get this nasty looking crap off of it.

I would just use goo gone, the heat gun will make a pretty big mess

plus any damage to paint(which i don't think there will be) wouldn't matter as you want to repaint anyways

i have goo gone and its not working...you gotta remember this is 9 year old glue lol...i could maybe use a hairdryer on a low setting...trying to get rid of this glue is like trying to get rid of crabs...shaving doesnt work in both cases

IF you go the wash and wax forum there is a thread on the sticker and the glue. It said to use baby oil. That is what the guy said to use but good luck.

yea i looked at that but he was talking about when taking it off...others have said to use hand cleanser but i have a feeling that if i use a hair dryer on a low heat setting it will work

I have a milwaukee no #### around kind of heat gun I use for work all the time. I've removed stickers and stuff from bikes with it in the past.

Have you tried detailers clay with a sh*tload of quick detail spray on the glue? Just an idea, not sure it would work.

Why not just use a razor blade? This is on glass correct?

no the windshield tape...it borders the actual windshield and its black but underneath it is your factory paint...its only useful really if you have a hard top or plan on getting one...there is a DIY thread for it
