Whoa, that's a lot of gadgets! My FD had a boost gauge and an APEXi FC Commander unit. I do wish it had a turbo timer though. However, at the rate it consumed gas, I would probably run out of gas while it was cooling off.

I disagree on the penis er Prius. IMO there is nothing innovative in the package. Just reusing the existing gas/electric technology already available.

The IMA in the Honda hybrids are a stroke of genius. By incorporating the electric motor into the flywheel, Honda "reused" a part we needed anyway, and made it do "double duty" (triple if you count it as the starter motor, quadriple if you count it as a generator)
Regardless the methods choosen by the engineers, in either method will have their own pros and cons... what counts is results.

The Prius is classified as a SULEV, while the Insight is still classified only as a ULEV.

The prius is not as fuel efficent as the insight, but it is a midsize car, which can carry 5 adults, with 4 doors.

as a testiment to the Prius technology, the system regenerates braking energy so well that the highway mileage is actually lower then the city rating. because of aerodynamic drag!!!
