The V1 is just a detector where the Lidatek and K40 both have Jammer capability. I have the V1 and it has done very well and saved me many times especially back on the Big Island. Here in Honolulu, I get lot's of false alarms and trying to get used to where the false alarms are in my normal driving routes.

Usually once they get you locked on LIDAR, you're locked! But,the LIDAR supposedly has a difficult time locking in a s2k w/o front plates. The way Lidar works is that it transmits a beam that needs to be reflected back. The front plates are the most reflective and next would be the headlights. The design of the s2k headlights makes it difficult to reflect back the signal. So if you don't have your front plates and pick up a laser signal, you might still have a chance! But you risk getting tickets for no front plates everytime.

We have a k40 on Frans car and I had one before I got the Lidatek. It seemed to work, and we've never gotten tagged with that on her car. In theory, the Lidatek is superior. I uses a high power jammer that runs for only 5 seconds then needs to cool off and re-set. The K40 is always on and transmitting but at a lower power (LEDs???).

Installation is pretty easy but you do need to run wires into the car from the engine bay, possible the hardest part. I'd be happy to help out if I can.

if budget is an issue what do you recomend? i mean, v1 is a heavy price tag for a detector without a jammer. i also know that nothing is foolproof without speeding. do you think im ok because i run no front plates all the time

i dare not go through wakiki haha

I never had a problem with no front plates outside of Waikiki but with the traffic enforcement nowadays, I just leave my front plates on to be on the safe side. As far as other detectors, I'm not sure. The K40 has radar/laser detector in addition to the jammer. Not sure about the Lidatek. I'll be looking into the Lidatek soon.

Tricky piggies tonight. He takes the Waikele offramp and traffic naturally speeds up. Wham, on the Waikele on ramp 300 feet later...
That is one of the oldest tricks in the book.

The Lidatek has both detection and jamming. It's also modular to allow you to place more jammers (up to 4) on one unit.
