I went through a new set of S02s in 5 months. I am picking up Yokahamas in a week. They should last me twice as long as the SO2s. They dont grip like the SO2s but the life is almost 2-3 times longer than SO2s. My SO2s new were like $600+. The Yokahamas came out to like $350+. Thats much better for me.

Wow, 5 months. I agree, $600 every 5 months is pretty nuts.
I am at about five months now but I don't think those wear marks are showing yet. You probably drive much harder than I though

808, the problem of lack of traction in the rear is not that common, however, only you know how much you ask of your tires. If you regularly push your car then I suggest that you not try to "stretch more life" out of the rear tires. This is usually when bad things happen. FWIW, I seem to get about 8-10,000 miles out of my rear tires and seem to be changing them roughly once a year. This mean two of rears a year!

I did talk with Colin. Thanks Colin.
I am going with the Yokohama AVS ES100 tires because I need them for day to day driving. I travel about 30+miles a day. I know they wont be as good as the SO2s but I would rather have a longer lasting tire than a pure performance tire right now. I just cant keep dishing out $600 every 5 months for tires. I know I could raise the car up and be just fine but I like how the car looks and handles where its at now.
The tire set up I am going with the Yokohama is:
Yokohama AVS ES100
205/55/16 front
245/45/16 rear

I wrecked a 97 Cobra heading east on H3 right at the entrace to the tunnel there.. I was avoiding an accident that had happened right in front of me, hit some debris and slashed my drivers front tire.. car went sideways inside the tunnel and hit the tunnel wall.. 10K in repairs later (by Windward Honda body shop) the car was almost as good as new..
the best body shop that I know of is Global Auto Repair..
