Default can you guys really feel and hear the VTEC kickn in??

i had a celica gts previously before i got my S2K and when my GTS's VVTI-L kicks in @ 6,300rpm i hear a higher pitch and a great amount of torque. I've driving around like crazy tring to rack up miles on my brand new S2K so I can break in the engine. I finally did and I was expecting a scream @6,500rpm but then I was like "wheres the VTEC?"But I didnt feel that distinctive torque or hear that distinctive scream. From 1st to 2nd its ok but when im just traveling on te freeway going about 60mph and i get it into 3rd gear, when the rpms hit 6,500 i just cant fell it. Is somthing wrong with my car or did i just have really high expectations from the S2K?

It engages at 5900-6000 rpm. I can feel it 1st thru 4th gear really well then so so after that since I am at higher speeds. With just exhaust or just intake alone you can hear it very well and feel it. I have been in a celica GTS and can tell you first hand its night and day. The celica was a dog with their version of vtec. It felt like a 92 GSR to me. No pull what so ever. Just give it some time...

I also had a 2000 Celica GT-S before getting the S2000. To me, it seems that the S performs much better out of VTEC than the Celica did out of VVTL-i. One of the things that I noticed immediately after getting the S was that it revved from 4k to 6k much better than the Celica did. This may make the transition more pronounced in the Celica. It's also much better having 3K in VTEC rather than the 1.8K in the Celica.

Nothing like 9000RPM

I can't compare the S2k to the GTS because I haven't driven the Celica, but I can definitely feel and hear the difference when VTEC engages.

I can hear, feel, taste, smell, and see my S2000 hitting VTEC.

smccurry's S2000 has the kind of kick like getting rear-ended by a bus, very addicting!

Curry! We missed you tonight at Colin's work. Even tried calling you on a bluetooth phone inside the car. Oh well, haven't seen you in a while, I guess it's going to be a while longer.
