How can we as motor heads maintain or improve our racing enviroment. Straight line racing seems a waste and the Auto X, looks like it could get old.

Well the state had many opportunitys to create revenue. The worthless politicians screwed up the kart racing a few years back. Land is obviously an issue. And I feel the more speed shops, and major local car lots should invest and participate. I work for a major drag racer in the mainland and am surrounded by many corporate influences but I have not had the chance to pitch my scheme. I have a dream. One day we have a premier track along side the mountain. With stadium seating and bright lights. And white EVOs and black S2000s will race alongside each other.

Almost finished at work. So I'm feeling a thought come on. Bear with me... Me thinks the outer islands are more geared toward American Muscle "Straight line bubbas" and a 1/4 mile track ain't $#$%. What we need is a course where we can test the skills of the driver as well as the performance of the car. 1/4 mile just doesn't showcase the weaving power of an S2000. big dollars on lowering kits don't help unless there are some corners to rip through. can reach some pretty high top speeds on h3 but big speeds mean big tickets. had a 139mph one a while back that haunts me. lets make a figure 8 track out of the mililani on/off ramps and race those american cars!!! especially the ones with the cool flashing blue light on top. beware, unmarked 4 door g35 with flashing lights in grill. pulled me over for dusting him over kipapa gulch a few months back. whew... Sorry I jus don't want to see another exclusive 1/4 mile track made and get the left over parking lots to have fun in.

my family's 69 camaro would beg to differ that 1320ft is $#%$. we haven't run it in a few years but it turned 8.xx times and generated 900hp.

economically 1/4 tracks are more cost efficient. the square footage of track to maintain is significantly smaller.

i think that the drag racing community contributes more to the economy than the other types of motorsports. our 500cid Chevy ran about $14000. the car another $30000. the enclosed trailer other equipment added up too. motor rebuilds were once a month. fuel was $6.00/gallon. 4 gallons of oil/weekend. $500 worth of tires lasted about 2 months. all of this was done or purchased locally and we were one of many groups with that kind of investment. not many road racers, motorcycle racers, and drifter guys spend that much to race. and we were just amateurs. you work for a drag racer, you know the costs of a pro outfit.

don't rag on the type of motorsports that appeal to people. just as you stated, the s is made for corner carving and drag racers are made for going fast in a straight line. it doesn't make one better or more valuable to the community than another. everyone loses out in this deal, the sprint car guys, the motorcycle guys, the kart racers, the auto-x'ers, and yes the drag racers too.

support for motorsports in general is what will generate interest for more and different types of facilities available to us. but as a business endeavor, build the 1/4 mile track first. the rest will follow.
