Best Local Tire Deal For My AP2 Wheels?
hi guys, well i jumped the fence and just picked up a set of AP2 wheels...tires were all trashed so im trying to find a good mid-ranged set for around $6-$700 MAX. is that possible? what brand/model are you guys all using and where or how much is considered a good deal? i was really hoping to pick up a nice set of ap2 version 1s with good tires already but pickings for AP2 rims in hawaii are surprisingly nil. im lucky i even scored the beat-up ones i got
anyway im thinking of going with 255 in the rears too...to kinda match the width of the original bridgestones as i read some brands are narrower even in 245.
on a side note, im also sellin my mint ap1 16s if anyone is interested...really dont wanna sell but i aint rich and gotta offset my costs. check the fs thread above...tnx

Arnold, any reason why it has to be local? Currently, a couple of the best value performance tires are the Hankook Ventus RS-3 and the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec. You should be able to get either of those for about what you are budgeting for. Tire Rack is the place to go.

some of us are running re760 sports from costco (contact arison aka mcnasty for a quote).
i haven't run them on my03 yet but i've heard good things about them from other i've recommended them to.
good bang for the buck (i hear the price has gone up ) and 340 treadwear. gl!

R-S3s are back ordered till mid May on places like tire rack and discount tire direct. Dunno about locally but if looking for really good grip and decent prices, go with dunlop star specs or kumho ecsta XS. Ordered online through tire rack, you could get your tires in 3-4 days for 180-190 in shipping if available. Gotta pay the installers another 100-130 for mounting and balancing.

I'm another satisfied Tire Rack buyer but the Star Specs have gone up. I needed to replace a 255/40-17, it ran $193 + $63 + $32 for tire + freight + mount/balance. Next go around I definitely will price locally.
