True and true again. See Rich I get this all the time here. My gf thinks its jealousy. My friends think its hatred. I dont really care anymore. Its just a car for Christ sakes.
TheChad. I dont know you but now I know your sn on sh. Whats wrong with me buying these parts? Cant I spend money how I want to? Why do I have to prove anything? I wasted my money 10 years ago on tracking crap. Theres more to life than a car or a house or a number of things. Is there a new law that says I have to listen to you or anybody when spending my own money for something I want? No. End of story.
You guys need to start worring about your life not mine. I am just pointing out a simple fact. And no, nobody knows's me at all. I only post pictures on here and SanDiegoStreetracing.com and Onlineshowoff (which I dont go onto anymore). Thats were all my friends post. So no thats not everywhere. You probaby see pictures because my damn car is up on several local shops in the photo galleries due to the photographers putting them there. I post them here because I get requests.
Some of us (M777erlin, JayS2000, EvoS2000, Xplosiv, Dxlst, DarkCrow, DUC, Elements, Jrods2000, Spugen, Wesmaster, TeamHybrid, Hybrids2k, Henessey, UltimateLurker, VaporS2k, Kekoa, etc) have been pioneers for some products.
People want feedback on certain things before they spend their hard earned money for something. They want to know quality aspects, price, weight, reliability, any problems we have had and if we did what were they? Thats all.
Anyway getting back to the issue at hand.
I found the ASM hood in the S2k REV Mag. Its over $1000 with shipping.
Good side of it is you dont have to cut in order to install the Mugen or Js Racing CAI. Nice hood.

who invited the canadian eh? well since you decided to chime in, the whole point of this thread was for snuffy to get some info on the ASM CF hood eh. chris then decides to put in his $.02 and basically says "no CF hood is better than mine so you shouldn't even bother." eh. if snuff wanted a j's racing hood then he would have asked for it eh. i was only compelled to respond after reading what jdms2000 said to joeyrivera eh. i personally don't care what people do with their cars but chris likes to pretend that he has a JDM spec race car, talks about how dope all his mods are and yet has never even tested the limits of his own parts eh. all he has to do is say that he performed those mods just for the bling factor eh. i for one am the first to admit it when i buy something just for the way it looks eh.
as for how often joey tracks his car? that's between you and him but, he is serious about the performance of his car.
how's my grammar now? are you gonna tell me to "take off eh"? call me a "hoser"?

from what i read, joey called JDM's car a trailor queen.
then JDM started saying something about joey about not being able to AFFORD stuff.
now whos the one getting really personal in here.

Guys, you need to chill out. Honestly, who cares what one person does to their car. There's no point in arguing over which parts are better than others or whether those parts have any functionality, that's not what snuffy asked for in the first place. This thread makes us Hawaii people look bad and really should be put in the dumpster.

Thanks for the info guys. Um...I liked the look of the ASM hood, cause it looks stock, although with it, i wouldnt have to cut the hood for a J's or mugen intake. It also had nice safety features that made it actractive as well. But if it was to much $$$ I would much rather find a used hood and cut it. But, used s2k parts in hawaii are slim pickins.

That's more like it.
I'm glad that cooler heads can prevail, even in this summer heat.
Really though, I think it's Joey who should be apologizing for the first volley with the "trailer queen" comment. Nowhere does it state that you must track your car if you own an S2000 or buy aftermarket performance parts for it. Let's not lower this forum to a clubSi level.
Back on topic: Ryan, if you haven't seen the latest HyperRev VTEC sports mag featuring the S2000, let's take a look at my friend's copy at his restaurant (he keeps it there). I'm sure the ASM pages has contact information, and the price does seem pretty reasonable.

Wow, I can't believe I missed this thread completely... I guess downloading porn off news servers had me distracted.
I have no experience with any carbon hood, so that means I know jack-squat about them... but I have some thoughts on this subject..
The ASM hood appears to be a very affordable unit considering the big name versions costs sometimes a thousand or so more. If the ASM hood has the "mod" to accomodate the Mugen CAI, then that's a real bonus.
Regarding the weight factor... as we all know, the OEM hood is friggin light, so it's hard for me to imagine any significant weight reduction amount worth mentioning, if any. I personally wouldn't shell out the bucks to go with a CF hood for weight savings on the S2000. I'd do it for other reasons, like...
1. Bling factor (if you're gonna spend the $, it might as well look damn good)
2. To fit the Mugen-style CAI. (so no need to cut the hood)
3. Control under-hood temps (like in a turbo setup)
From my primitive understanding of Al and CF, Al in general is a little more stiff (since it'd be in some form of an alloy for automotive use) but has a tendency to crease/bend once you've introduced enough stress. From my experience with mountain biking, CF offers a remarkable ability to retain its original shape even after a hard landing since it'll spring back to normal but since it flexes (unlike most T6061 or E7075 aluminum which are very stiff) it makes for a more comfortable ride. CF in general can withstand a lot more pressure that would otherwise cause average Al or Ti to deform/fail, but when CF reaches its limit, it goes BOOM!
Al = aluminum
CF = Carbon Fiber
