My wife is about to get here AC fixed in here CIVIC and I was wondering if $400 sounds about right.
Does anyone know of a place that will do good work for cheaper then that? The place on Hickam was asking for a little bit above $400.
Thanks for any help.

Actually it depends on how old your Civic is. If it is R-12 then it will be expensive. But if it is R-134a then it would be cheap. I think they switched to R-134a in 94. If you have a post-94, then I'd expect that you have a compressor out. If you have a pre-94 then I'd think you'd just have a bad o-ring. Any time you have to service the a/c, you usually have to evacuate the system and introduce new refrigerant. R-12 cools much better but is like $85 for 16 oz (1 lb). Most smaller cars take 20-30 oz. R-134a is much cheaper like $6 per lb. IMO, $400 is about right if it is post-94 and really cheap if it is pre-94. I'd DIY and just have a shop evacuate/recharge it for you. That is what I did with my Civic.

Yeah I guess she asked around to two places and they quoted her between $400-$500 to do the work. Her car is a 95 civic.
O well I guess she said that she is going to wait for me to get back to fix it anyways since it's going to take a day for them to do it and she doesn't want to be a whole day without her car.
Thanks for the help
