Default 07 S2000 Clicking When going to 1st Gear

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with this problem. I hear like a small click when I go into reverse or 1st gear. I read other threads and they are stating it may be the rear axle nut that needs to be tightend to 220 to 240 lbs.-ft. Torque and could possible at 180 lbs.-ft. Torque. Any info would be helpful. Mahalo.

per Billman520, "Outer axle nuts(36 mm or 1 7/16 socket) need to be re-torqued to 225ft-lbs..."

So that's in the manual? They told me that's not covered in the warranty.

Do you happened to know if that will cause major damage if it is not corrected right away?

oh i thought it was covered under warranty...

well in that case here's a few things i can think off:

check the mount that's holding your spare tire, it could be the clanking noise (happened to me)..

or you need to clean and lube the surfaces of the joint and the wheel hub...

double check the tq as well on the nut

it clicks when you put it IN gear? or when you first apply torque to the drivetrain and start moving?

could also be your pads depending on how long your car has been sitting with the e-brake on more than needed

bearing failure may occur if not corrected. but yea my pads would move around and make a similar noise that happened after i re-torqued after i changed the pads the noise also went away
