Default 01 Plastic to 02 Glass window

I'm having my top converted from plastic to glass right now. When it's all done I'll let who everya check out what part of the frame had to be modded so you can either try it yourself or have it done by the shop that's doing mine.

Cost of 02 top $895 (Hardtopguy)
Soft Top Glass Window Conversion Wiring Kit $101.86 (Hardtopguy)
Install should be about $350 (Johnny's Top Shop, price may change depending on material he might have to buy)
Shipping to Hawaii was $115 (cheapest shipping to Hawaii from Hardtopguy)

$1461.86 to do this mod when Honda wanted $1600 plus tax for just the top. And then you won't believe how much TONY HONDA quoted me for doing the labor work. Anyone want to guess?

He wanted 3,333.68 for labor + 1,600+ tax for a glass window top from the dealer. I just laughed and told them that was the biggest quote I got for the day and he laughed with me.

You could have had a S2K Hard top paid, shipped and then installed here for that quote, and maybe some change. Tony Honda is not in Waipio, they gotta be on Pluto!

Yeah that was a pretty crazy quote. I asked him a few times if that was the total price and he said no that was just the labor charge. I hope he was just wrong, but maybe thats why he told me that he's never seen it done.

A coworker and friend needed a new radiator and water pump for his jeep. The jeep dealership wanted $995.00 for parts and labor, and he almost paid it as he knows nothing about cars. I talked him out of it and a couple days later came over with some tools. It took us 2 hours and cost under $200.00 for parts.
Remember, friends don't let friends get bent over by the dealerships.

Thanks for the info on costs for this mod, I'ts another one I've been considering and now I have a good idea on cost.

I have the PDF file. It was done by CLOVIS.

I got the car back and it looks really good. I gave him the top and 4 modifry straps and then he went out and bought some nylon straps to finish the job. It looks and fits good. The only thing now is when I close the top I have to grab that lever right above the interior lights and barely pull it down to close the top. I guess it doesn't fit perfect because of what I just mentioned but I also think that it's better then having the top just close without having to do that and not being a tight fit. I can't say that it's any quiter or if less air noise is in the cabin when the top is up because I drove home with the top down.

He told me that it wasn't a perfect fit and that he had to play with it a little to get it to fit just right. It looks real good to me, it was well worth the $350 for the install.
