If I were in the market for a full size truck, I'm sure $20k is a great deal for a 1 year old truck.

I'm not asking you to buy it. I'm asking if you would pay $20k today for a truck that stickered nearly double that last year. The question also assumes that one would be in the market for a truck. Despite economic woes, trucks will always be needed.

Also, the truck isn't for sale or leaving our stable.
I don't know how much they go for but I thought that trucks really don't maintain their prices very well. Bree traded in a 2004 (I think) Explorer with only something like 40,000 miles on it and they gave her around 8k. They cited "gas prices" for the reasons why. Actually that was one of the better prices we got for a trade in

Skip... that is an amazing deal on that truck...

Id think youd have no problem selling it up here for that, gas prices or not.

Jason... SUVs dont keep their values, but full size trucks do...

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee... I dont want it anymore. I have a feeling I might get 2K for it.

Well, I was offered $15k at the place I bought it from last year, and $17,500 at the dealership that does my body work. I was hoping to take about a $3k hit. I can't take a $11k-$12k one. 0% financing for 6 yrs would have covered the upside-downness of $3k.

I understand perfectly well that no one wants to take trucks into inventory. I'll gladly pay $5/gal and use it as my DD before I give it away for what they offered. On a side note, both places said it was in great shape.

I was only looking to take advantage of the 0% financing... nothing more. There were other potential benefits such as a couple months shorter on my current term, possibly lower payment( ), and the probability of gaining 1-3 mpg. Trade-in on Edmunds.com is $24,5000. Private sale was something like $26,750. I was hoping to get in between those two numbers.

I'll keep it. It's a great truck- comfy on the inside for the whole family(leather, sunroof, etc) and still able to perform better than even some 2500-series trucks. It's only true downside is the ghey-sized short bed, but you can't get anything else in the 1500 if you want a crew cab.

Just to give an idea on how significant 0% interest is, I believe I'm paying $525/mo at 5.7% interest for 72 months. IIRC, the amount financed was $30-31k.

Assuming that my payments stay the same, $525/mo, for the same term, 72 months, I could have financed $37,800. Or if I financed the same amount as I did, my payments would be no more than $430/mo. That is some significant coin when it comes to an auto payment.
