In terms of stupidity.. a friend just told me on 495 he was comin home and another driver and passenger in another car were busy staring at his car and filming that they rear ended the car in front of them when traffic came to a stop on 495.. I shouldn't laugh but what can you do..
People who complain about the possibility of deadly mistakes made by self-driving cars tend to overlook the thousands of people who won't be killed by deadly human mistakes.
Right? People are terrible drivers.

A Tesla was the cause of what? 1 fatal accident while using auto-pilot?

So far, yea... The cause was a white truck against a white sky that the car couldn't "see." From what I understand the software can be tweaked to fix this but also just putting reflectors on the trucks would solve the issue, too. Either way, sounds like it will get worked out.

I have seen enough asshattery in the last six or seven years of commuting to convince me that automated driving will save lives, time and, ultimately, money. Personally, I am planning on having two cars - one sports car something that I can take out to the twisites and another super-automated, self driving whatever to get me to work without pulling out my hair.

I am thinking of putting together a little shin-dig late September. Weekends are booking up fast--so yeah, late sept. Should be fun.
