You know it's going to be good day when you have a split nail, then your try to rub off the piece of split nail with your other thumb and you harpoon yourself.

I have not operated such a thing but I have also been considering renting one. I want to do a long retaining wall in the front of my house and have no desire to dig it all by had. I just have to avoid the pipe for the well.

I dono.. I like a challenge personally which is why I do many things myself. I'm still thinking about hiring it out myself, but doing it myself and seeing it all done is much more satisfying to me. Plus, operating a skid steer just seems like a lot of fun. If I'm saving money and getting to play with heavy machinery it seems like a no brainer. We'll see what happens..

I'd hire the fk out of someone for those two jobs, my time > the cost of someone who will get that ish done in a day.

I would think about whether I know how to do the job or not, and then get prices before making the decision. I go to work to make my life easier and to spend free time with friends vs sweating in the yard
