As I understand it, I pretty much have to go with a 2-stage blower because of the gravel driveway. I can't remember exactly why but a single stage can't cope with that. Ariens blowers are re-branded Husqvarna units and are generally considered to be great for Harry Homeowner types such as myself.

This is the one that I want. Just need to find it somewhere...
i was going to suggest 2 stage to yo.

Honestly, even without the whole gravel driveway issue, I probably would have landed on a 2-stage anyways. There are areas of the driveway close to the house where I would need to be able to move the snow further than most single-stage blowers are even capable of doing.

this. and if you ever have "wet" snow. a single stage simply can't pick it up and throw it.

Yup. Very familiar with that site. I used it to do my research last year after Bobbie and I about killed ourselves shoveling out from that big storm.

Note the blower in the "better" category on the second link. That would be the Ariens 920021.

also, make sure you get one with "spacer" shoes. this is very important for gravel driveways.

I run performance winter tires on the audi because I run high performance summer tires in warm weather, I like traction and I want to keep my wife as safe as I can because she has a need for speed on winding back roads during her commute. It's too low to go anywhere in deep snow although it has the traction to do it and you are OK if you drive backwards through the deep stuff to keep it out of the grill.

Yea... I remember you sharing that with me last year as well. I think that is the next level up from the one I picked out - more or less. It is a few inches bigger and has those fancy heated handles.

If/when the Ariens fails on me in a couple of years, that will be the replacement, me thinks. I just wanted to keep it under a grand all in for my first go around. Hopefully it isn't money wasted.

Snow blowers are more spendy than I would've guessed.
