Did some exploring today, found the Cherokee ski run

This spot is really close to my house less than a mile and is the supposed emergency fire exit from my neighborhood, except for the locked gate.

Here is a pic from the other side, but takes 30 minutes+ to get to, windy gravel road down to 55 and back up

The Miata handles racetrack use (This past Thursday) and some steep gravel roads with aplomb, not many cars can do that.

That place was cool in the fall. They offered rides on the ski lifts for leaf peepers. Those moron Whitehouse party crashers were living in the lodge up there. The guy may still be up there.

The area is called Mosby Mountain estates, there are some real nice and huge houses up there, to bad the road is rough and all gravel. One would need a new truck like you have in the winter for sure..

No trespassing signs everywhere, I payed no attention.

I was trying to find the other side of the mountain, but it seems like you have to drive though the Smithsonian institute off of 522, but that is a gated place.

Great day for a drive

The other side is Firey Mountain road. Go past the Linden Vinyerds and turn right. It comes out on 522. The only vehicle you own that can make it through there is the Element. You may lose any teeth fillings you have driving that road.

That.s the road I came in on from 522, might have touched the chassis a few times
