Anyone build a HTPC?
I'm looking at doing one to run XBMC... Initial feedback is that I was shooting WAY too high with specs initially so now I'm looking at an Athlon II x3 build... If I haven't forgotten anything, it looks like it'll be around $425 complete (already have HDDs and BR-ROM).
edit: also considering an SSD for the system/boot drive. 40G should be big enough.

if you get an original apple tv you can hack it easily to run XBMC or Boxee. i use mine as a HTPC and have had no problems.

yup, i don't have any issues with HD video, either from the itunes store or from the net. i watch all of the new BBC Top Gear episodes in 720 with out any issue.
since apple pulled the plug on the original it has become a great little home brew device.

Ah ok, maybe it was just 1080p that it couldn't play then.

Yeah, they can't handle 1080p.

I'm also planning on a Radeon 5670 for audio and video.
Looks like I might have to upgrade my receiver to do true HD audio decoding. It does 7.1, tho..
No Mac does HD audio. And my Macbook running Plex 9 won't process 1080p smoothly.
