You could always just go with a USB drive if its just for booting. Low power and cheaper than an SSD.

You also need a pretty decent processor to be able to play back 1080p video unless you have hardware decoding.

What are you building it for? Google TV just dropped to $99. That can stream your collection of videos... but it doesn't have a BR drive.
