Most lenders (if you are taking a mortgage) will require it. Basic title insurance is not very expensive. However, this is more of a 'cadillac' plan that most title companies automatically try and sell you. I told my settlement attorney at closing i wanted the basic insurance. It dropped the cost in half. He wasn't happy (as you pointed out, it's their commission) but it's what i wanted.

Thanks My price range is $1000-1500 for now. I want something in good mechanical condition, with nothing that needs to be fixed immediately.

I'd be interested in that CBR if it was in better shape. The other three are too cruiserish for me.
