Don't forget you can always "cheat" and use gui tools.

but yea the reports part of that makes me think you need to do fancy grep/awk stuff.

No doubt. First thing I do in the exams is configure yum and install system-config-*

It's really not that big a deal; just a shitload of political grandstanding. If there is a shutdown, it will end 3 seconds after some old ladies call their Congresscritters bitching about their Social Security checks being late. Two weeks tops. This will only hurt people living paycheck to paycheck, but if your livelihood is dependent on political whims you should know better than to do that in the first place.

Yea i've got money saved so i'm good...we also would get back pay. But I really don't think anything will happen...but like you said, if there is something that's bound to happen, it would be a pretty short time frame i would imagine.
