I should look into the supermotos. I haven't yet.

George recommended, and I really like, the sv650. I'd have to find a pretty cheap one to stay in this summer's budget though.

Also thinking about the slightly less interesting (or if you ask George, MUCH less interesting ) Ninja 500.
