Thanks, Tom. I thought I had narrowed my search down to the Panasonic commercial 50" display. It doesn't have speakers nor a HD receiver built in. I don't necessarily need those items as i have a decent surround system and satellite. The built-in HD receivers are only good for those with cable.
The problem: no one knows when the next shipment of those will be coming into the US. So then I expanded my price range a little bit. Then the Pioneer I was considering is in short supply as well. I can't afford the Elite series, but really enjoyed my previous Pioneer HDtv.
I cringed at the money spent on the last one, but we never had a single problem with it. I've researched quite a few companies' products. I'm not going to settle as the sticker shock will have long faded before the tv is replaced again. I can't afford exactly what I would like, but that's nothing new!

skip, i know someone who has their own business selling (mostly)commercial plasmas, .. . get me a model number and ill see what i can do.
Commercial model: Panasonic TH-50PHD8UK
Thanks, Tony. The Panny is not available right now- out of stock everywhere. I shouldn't need a wall mount kit either. I am flush-mounting it in the wall. I have to find out if the monitor can safely rest on itself. The sets are about 95lbs.

Although I'm kinda worried about how they're going to work in the cold... So I dunno if I'm really going to test them...

Me too! Music cranked and smoking cigarettes. I think there are only 4 or 5 people in the 6 floors of my building.

If I do go with the Pioneer, I'm going to want to buy from an authorized dealer for warranty purposes. The lowest so far from such a dealer is $4475 shipped(beyondplasma.com) for the 5060HD. Add $289 for a total of 4 yrs of warranty. Looks like I'm going to need a wall mount for support the weight of the monitor. That's about $150.

TepEvan will sometimes go back 5-8 pages and start getting caught up. He quotes some really old discussion material. That's "tepping." The completed task of that is :tep'd:
