Thanks, Skip. Her hand position is why I didn't post that photo first. I prefer her facial expression and position in this second one, but the hand ruins it.
subrosa: she's a model we hired for the shoot, for the first episode (aside from the pilot) of Capitol Modeling (in Arlington, Channel 69, 9pm Mondays and 9:30pm Fridays). We shot at Cafe Japone in Dupont, which is a very cool joint.
I've got a bunch more photos to process yet...

I need a new camera anyway, since mine got stolen.

well, the camera is one small element. everything that goes into a shoot... planning, concept, scouting the location and arranging permissions, lighting, relighting, lighting again, the model, the experience of the model, directing the model, the photographer-model relationship, the makeup artist, the stylist, the wardrobe, it's truly a collaborative effort to pull off a successful shoot.
By the time all these things are accounted for, I could just about be shooting with a disposable camera. Of course, having the strobe sync and wireless transmitters and the right lens and all that helps, but there ya go.

oh yea.. I understand all that... I had years of photography in school... I just never got into all the studio stuff since I was a design major and only had time for so much while I was there. I did a whole lot of b&w process stuff. Its a huge production that a lot of people don't realize.
