Less than zero stars.

Since talking about sick dogs is kinda depressing.... I have a question for the HAW Collective. DIY/home improvement related.

Does anyone have any strong feelings about ceiling fans? A particular brand or feature you really do or do not like?

My new home will come with rough ins and all the wiring so I can control the fan speed separately from the light (i.e. two switches) but I have to supply my own fans. I am leaning towards the Westinghouse Lighting Comet 52-Inch Five-Blade Indoor Ceiling Fan based on some reviews I've read. I also think it is a good balance between features and cost. I am mostly focused on larger fans that move a lot of air at low speed and do NOT have smart controls. I plan on adding my own switches so I can keep everything in the same operating environment.

This is the fan speed controller I currently use and am really happy with:
Amazon.com: Lutron PD-FSQN-WH Caseta Original Speed Control Switch for Pull Chain Fans, Works w/Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Home (Hub, 1.5A Single-Pole, Neutral Required, White : Tools & Home Improvement Amazon.com: Lutron PD-FSQN-WH Caseta Original Speed Control Switch for Pull Chain Fans, Works w/Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Home (Hub, 1.5A Single-Pole, Neutral Required, White : Tools & Home Improvement

It gets paired with a
Lutron Caseta Smart Lighting Original Dimmer Switch, for Light Bulbs and Fans, Works w/ Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Home (Hub Required), 150W Single-Pole/3-Way, No Neutral Required, PD-6WCL-WH, White - Amazon.com Lutron Caseta Smart Lighting Original Dimmer Switch, for Light Bulbs and Fans, Works w/ Alexa, Apple Homekit, Google Home (Hub Required), 150W Single-Pole/3-Way, No Neutral Required, PD-6WCL-WH, White - Amazon.com
to control the fan light.

I have two of these in my home now and am really, really happy with them. Far superior to my experience with the dumb remotes that come with a lot of ceiling fans now.

I have no idea on ceiling fans, other than I do like having them.

I think they went off trend for a while but with the growing costs of heating and cooling, they are getting popular again, I guess. I've ALWAYS liked them and they are spread liberally around my new home - one in every bedroom, one in the home office we are setting up for Bobbie and one in the Living Room. That's seven in total. I plan on putting a boss in the living room. I want that ish to blow the glasses off the coffee table.

We have fans in every bedroom, the living room, the office, and 2 outside on the lanai. They make a difference. As far as brand, I think, like most manufacturers now, the names were bought up and all that changes is what sticker Chinese line worker #24893481756 puts on the finished product.

I think that is the lower end of the market - the crap they sell at the man mall. I don't necessarily have a problem with that and will probably buy a couple of them for the guest rooms where the fans won't be used often. I want something with a little more style and function for the master suite and the living room fan locations. I'm reading that CFM is important because you can move more air at a lower speed and lower speeds mean quiet and that sounds good to me!
