my new boss had that happen to him last week. he called a dealer in ohio (from baltimore) and was like, i'll be there tomorrow morning, cash in hand. dealer said cool.

boss rented a car, drove out the night before spent the night in a hotel. got to the dealer the next morning and the dealer sold it to someone else. dude drove 500 miles, rented a car, got a hotel, took two days off of work, and the dealer sold it from under him.

part of me is like, you should have sent him a deposit or something, the other part is like, good thing you didn't send one... shady dealer is shady.

oh he was. and i was for him when he told me. His Pontiac G8 got totaled, so he's looking for a replacement and obviously they aren't exactly in abundance.

We had a similar situation with a Mazda3 turbo Bobbie was looking at. The dealer strait up told us that they don't take deposits and work on a "first come, first serve" basis. Bobbie didn't get the car she wanted either.
