RAID 1 is an option and I thought about it... But I am not sure how much I trust it. Is RAID 5 really necessary? Am I being paranoid?

What's not to trust about RAID 1? You have 2 or 3 copies of your information. What are the chances all drives fail at the same time?

Probably small. What I am trying to protect against with the online backup, though, is something like an electrical (most likely) or fire (least likely) event at home. Something that wipes out my home workstation. I guess I could toss in theft, too.

I do have well over 10k photos that I do not want to lose. Not to mention all kinds of school, financial, work, real estate, etc. records that are pretty darn important, too.

I hate it when I have stress over this crap. Nothing ever seems to "just work."

*sigh*

This week has the potential to be really good or really bad. It is not at all likely to just muddle along... for a good week.
