I've given up on a couple of things I wanted to do around the house and am calling in the professionals. I have three doors that are just shot and need to be replaced. The door from the dining room to the deck is so bad that you can see daylight almost all the way around it. Doors are tricky things and, while I think I can do it, it is going to take me 10x longer to make it work than someone who actually knows what they are doing. Plus I want to get it done before the weather really turns.

I'm meeting the contractor that did the deck and the siding repairs for us today at about 3. I hope it isn't going to cost too much money because I have already decided I really don't want to do the work.

I had every intention of pressure washing the deck but I decided that sleep was a better idea

I need to replace my back slider door badly before winter. It has a major gap that lets tons of cold air in and definitely not something I'm going to do myself. I'm pretty sure it's my fault I have that big gap when putting those doors back in after our flood.

Yea... Doors are tricky, dude. Getting it plumb and level are super important and can be bunged up in a bunch of different ways. I'll have to dip into the kitchen fund to get it done but keeping the house warmer this winter is more important right now.

Speaking of which... Any of you guys got any opinions on "smart home" door locks?

I have friend that is a part-time locksmith and he said think less about the quality of the lock and more about how I want to integrate it with my current gear. He has Kwikset branded locks all over his house and is integrating them with the Samsung smart home hub. I'm pretty deep in the iVerse so I thought I would look into their stuff first.

Anybody have any good or bad experiences? I'm not interested in a DIY setup because it has to just work out of the box. I'm not effin around with this one.
