Yea, my fan controller for my furnace died so the fan stopped running while the AC was on which froze everything, then when that defrosted, water got up in everything.

Replacing just the controller is half the cost of a new furnace, which is 21 years old.... so getting our furnace replaced today today. :-/ at least the weather was nice while the AC was out.

21 years is a good life, though. Be thankful you got as much trouble free life out of it as you did.

Jim's HVAC is my HVAC's twin. Going on 21 years here as well. That's why we have had a couple of contractors stop by this week to bid replacement.

Our heat pump lasted from 1994 until 2016. But those last couple of winters were rough so I wouldn't say that it lasted more than 20 years.

Supposedly, the Carrier Greenspeed is a SEER 20. We will see if we go that route. That's getting close to geothermal efficiency without all that drilling.

We would have liked to have gone with a 20 SEER until (we got a 15) but in heat pump form they are not cost efficient... Ours is a Carrier, though. I think you will be very happy with that one, Zeke.
