I'm not thinking in terms of economy but rather just storm water management. My water is pretty much free except for the costs (in electricity) for getting it out of the ground but I spend a fair amount of time (and some money) managing the area at the corner of the house that floods every time it rains. If I could collect that and/or release it more slowly, I could save myself some headaches. My thought, though, is that the headaches of dealing with the runoff are about equal to the headaches I'd have keeping tree debris out of my rainwater collection system (whatever that looks like).

Run a really long downspout to the nearest creek or property line. Problem solved.

Therein lies the rub, as they say. This particular downspout comes down at the highest corner of my lot. The lowest happens to be the opposite corner. Basically, said downspout would have to go through my living room.

Honestly, all I want is for the water to get a little further away from the house before it saturates the ground.

The term is absent, because what you wrote is way too hard to say!

So Traffic Tuesday wasn't so traffic-y. Could it possibly be summer driving season already?!?! That doesn't usually happen for me until Loudoun County closes the schools for the summer. This year, that's June 9th. Either way, getting home yesterday was pretty much a record and this morning wasn't bad at all.

I'll sacrifice a chicken in the parking lot just to be sure, tho...

French Drain? Run the gutters the other way? Kill it with fire?

Or have it dump into a barrel that I can drain at my leisure.

I made coffee for the first time with our office coffee maker. Um... WOW. A wee bit strong there, laddie.
