The trick is the right kind of vacuum. You need a real "dust collector" rather than a typical shop vac. The difference is in CFM of airflow - dust collectors move A LOT more air where a shop vac is focused mostly on how powerful the vacuum is. There is a brand called Festool that makes a couple of very highly rated portable dust collectors that almost got my money. They are just a weee bit expensive (said sarcastically) so I couldn't justify it.

i could make you a dust collector easily for pretty cheap...
also, Zeke, you're right... sander no worky on ceiling very well.
i've had decent success with them on walls. using a good shop vac and sanding a little slower than you normally would with just paper... the one i used collected the dust pretty well and didnt' get clogged too quickly.

I dunno about you guys but I had a BLAST getting to work today. Parts of Route 7 are pretty much just a log flume.
