Probably but given that this guy is an anti-virus admin he is probably a little higher up the ladder. I think it goes back to what you said about accountability. At this point he has a little egg on his face because I had to point out something that should have been very obvious to him (that a ticket had been submitted) but I suspect that means almost nothing to him. I sure didn't get an "opps, I should have seen that" e-mail from him. I doubt anyone else will use it as a "teaching moment" either.

I know I am tilting at windmills here but if these guys can't get the simple stuff right, what happens when I hit them with a big issue? I really don't want to be the asshat that goes at the help desk with a baseball bat EVERY time just because experience has taught me that is what I have to do to get even little things accomplished. I remember the users that did that to me and I did not like it. I don't want to be "that guy." *sigh*

Anywho... Done venting about that. Not likely to be the last time this happens with this project anyways. May as well as get used to it.

12/23 - I get an e-mail from said helpful person asking me to submit a ticket with the hostname and IP address of the system having the issue.




This job can be so incredibly frustrating at times.
I'm guessing you didn't submit your tickets in triplicate?
