Horn honks when trunk lid opened.

Horn honks when trunk lid opened.
I had an experience the other day in my stook, which I was unaware of. I didn't recall reading about the feature in the owner's manual. When I got home from the grocery store I popped the trunk lid using the keyless remote. I had removed the keys from the ignition. I was sitting in the driver's seat, had the driver door opened, and popped open the trunk as I was climbing out. All of a sudden the horn starts beeping and wouldn't stop until I closed the trunk lid. I haven't had a chance to check the manual yet but is that some security feature?
I was told by the salesman at the dealer that if the top was down and someone reached inside and unlocked the door and opened it that the horn would beep. But when I tested that it didn't work. I figured he was simply mistaken. Am I missing something here? Or have I stumbled across a new feature? If the horn beeps under the circumstances described above then it would be good IF it did beep when someone tried unlocking the car door with the top down.
Where I live I feel comfortable parking the car with the top down as I run into the store for a few things. I don't leave it out of my sight for very long. Having this added security feature would add a bit more piece of mind though.

Someone will help you out no doubt. What I meant was on many of these alarms if you press and hold either the arm or disarm button on your keyless remote for longer than usual, say 3 or 4 seconds, the horn or alarm sounds in a personal attack situation. Probably more comforting to you wife than you
Hey I've got a GT LTS 5000 Mountain Bike and I just love it.

This is the "grocery alert" feature. I only works if the trunk is full of groceries and you have kids to come tote them into the house. You didn't mention if you have kids or not, so I can't tell if it's working right, or if your house is too close to a school or something.
You can defeat the grocery alert by opening the trunk with the key, but when I tried it the key just broke as soon as I pried up on it. I think a crow bar or tire iron would work though.

Hmmmm. Definitely an undocumented feature no doubt
OK. Ok. I think the mystery is solved. I must have accidently hit the panic button by mistake. I have not been able to duplicate the horn honking again. Although for the life of me I can't see how I could have pressed both buttons at the same time because as soon as the trunk lid popped the horn began honking and wouldn't turn off until I closed the lid. Go figure.
