Tire Advice
I have been searching all the information on tires, but I still have a question. I am on my second set of tires for my 2001 S2K. My first set was OEM"s 02 I believe that lasted about 12K miles. I now have Bridgestone RE 750 and the rear tires need replacing at around 8,000 miles. I went with this tire because I was told these will last longer than the OEM tires. Wow, were they ever wrong. Is that normal? Any advice? Thanks.

My first set of S02's lasted 42k but the rears normally get 15-17k. So far I've only had S-02's and S-03's but planning on going with RE-11's next. I think I spotted you this week coming out of the valley going East.

Actually, I am probably abnormally easy on my car. It is pretty even wear, I just can't believe after 8K miles I need new rear tires on the RE 750's

I've had to replace my rears about 4 times now. The average seems to be about 12-15K for the rears and 35-40 for the fronts. If you are replaceing your reas at 8K, and are telling us youare light on the throttle, then there is another issue somewhere else, right pressure . The RE 750's should not have worn that fast.
I've been running Toyo TR1's for the past couple of replacements and really enjoy them. It's pretty much personal preference based on your driving habbits of which type of tire will work best for you.

I have over 12k on my OEM RE050s and they've still got decent tread depth on the rears - I expect to get at least 15-20k from them...
Sounds like you should get an alignment check (or you may not be that "abnormally easy" on your car )

yea im in the same boat you are, I need tires really bad so I just ordered some new tires for my S. I went with Continental ContiExtremeContact from tire rack. $376.78 shipped to my house. Should be arriving weds. My S is a daily driver so I needed to go with a good all season tire. I read alot of reviews and searched on the forums couple of ppl have em and they say they say they are alright. I have the sumi-tumo htr+ and they grip good in the dry but in the wet, lets say if you like to get sideways its alot of fun. Hope that helps.
