Default SCCA Solo Event 2 - May 10th

Coming up on Sunday - second event of the season - this time without the snow and 30deg weather like event 1...

I've designed the course so it should be very challenging and a lot of fun. Definitely some second gear rev limit pops in a few places in an AP2.

Event Schedule:

http://stlsolo.org/2009Schedule/tabid/77/Default.aspx

Run/Work Order:
http://stlsolo.org/2009Schedule/2009RunWor...82/Default.aspx

Event Registration Details:
http://stlsolo.org/EventRegistration...7/Default.aspx

Fee is $25 for members - $40 for non-members (but $15 of that is pro-rated towards you becoming an SCCA member)

Look for me:

Hey Nick.. I was thinking about making it out there for my first event. Had a question tho.... right now I'm pretty much stock except I've got an AEM v2 intake... should I run AS, SM2, BSP, STX, etc.? I know AS is suppossed to be stock but I've read that sometimes certain groups will allow one or two small mods. Also, I've got 255s on the rear (Sumitomo HTR Z IIIs)... I'm not 100% sure if that disqualifies certain classes for me, etc. I'd like to be in a class I can be more than competitive in (read EASY)...

You'll be in BSP because of the intake. If you're serious about autocrossing the S2000 and being competitive, AS is the only way to go, so you'd need to put the stock air box back on. But at that point, you need to buy autocross specific R-Compounds anyway (i.e. Hoosier A6). The St. Louis region has a street tire class, but it is not recognized regionally or nationally.

Also, tire size is irrelevant as far as the rules go. It's only your wheel size and offset that matter.

If you don't care where you finish but just want to get out to drive the car how it's meant to be driven (highly recommended, you'll learn a lot!), then it doesn't really matter what class you are in. Sounds like you would be in Street Tire BSP, though.

Thats what I was thinking... I'm not planning on going national anytime soon, I've got a biochem PhD program that starts soon and will consume me for the next 5 years...

BSP sounds right, I'll be able to modify a good bit, keep my street tires, and still compete when I do find time...

FormulaRedline... are you doing the Weds. PDX event coming up soon?

Yeah, I should be. My car is in the shop right now getting a new diff, but assuming everything works out okay and I get some brake pads in time, I'll be there. Even if the car is not ready, I'd probably show up to instruct.

Kamal - yeah you'd be in BSP - definitely run the tire index class though - you'll find there to be some similarly modded cars with street tires and it will give you a place to be competitive.

Come find me - I'll be the guy with the black dog and probably lacking a shirt . I'll take you for a ride - AS runs second heat - although it looks like you'd be working second then. With that in mind - I'd run SSM if I were you and run second heat with AS - there will be a 99% chance that there will be time for you to hop back and forth from your car to others to ride along.

Chances are I'll be announcing first heat too so I'll be easy to find

I have it sitting right in front of me - with no access to a scanner till at least thursday.

Either way I don't think I'm allowed to post it publicly, something about an unfair advantage for those who are internet savvy....(yeah I know - but not my rules)

Maps don't help much anyway if you are worried about the next cone coming up - you are going too slow
